Road Traffic Accidents

It is a sad fact that thousands of people are killed on Britain’s roads every year and many more injured.

Whilst the majority of road traffic accidents involve fairly minor injuries, it is still very important that you seek specialist advice from skilled personal injury lawyers who can advise you on what you are entitled to claim.

At Dutton Gregory we have specialist knowledge of all types of road traffic accidents and we have helped thousands of clients win their case and obtain the compensation that they deserve.

Many injuries can prevent someone from working and this can be a worrying time, especially if they are self-employed or their employer only pays Statutory Sick Pay (SSP). If you have been involved in a road traffic accident and find yourself in this situation, we will make every effort to obtain an interim payment to try and ease this financial burden.

Dutton Gregory will also ensure that you are examined by independent medical experts who have specialist knowledge of your type of injury. We will also seek, where possible, to obtain any rehabilitation treatment that you might need, such as physiotherapy or chiropractic treatment.

Our road traffic accident specialists will listen to your needs sympathetically. Call Dutton Gregory, the personal injury lawyers today for free expert advice on 0800 0901499.

If you were a passenger in a car or bus and were involved in a road traffic accident in which you sustained injuries, you are more than likely entitled to claim compensation either from the insurance company of the driver of the vehicle you were travelling in, or from the other party’s insurance company.

We offer funding under a Conditional Fee Agreement (No Win, No Fee) so that you do not have to worry.

Cyclists

There is no law in Britain that says a cyclist must wear a helmet. Therefore, it is common place when an accident involving a cyclist occurs that brain and spinal injuries will sadly result. More often than not, the accident was not the fault of the cyclist but they can be left with devastating injuries.

Even when helmets are worn, serious and complicated injuries still occur. This is where Dutton Gregory’s specialist road traffic accident team of lawyers can help.

We at Dutton Gregory have been helping cyclists win compensation for over 35 years. We have specialist knowledge in these types of claims and have access to some of the best independent medical experts who can examine you and work alongside your treating doctor.

We understand that bicycle accidents can have a long lasting effect, not only on the injured person but also their family.

Motorcyclists

Although there are many more cars on the road than motorbikes, unfortunately more motorcyclists are killed every year than car drivers.   It is therefore inevitable that the majority of injuries sustained to motorcyclists are usually and frequently more severe; often compared with the majority of drivers and passengers injured in a car accident.

Frequently sustained injuries to motorcyclists;

  • Broken bones – legs, arms etc
  • Head/brain injuries (even though helmets have been worn)
  • Back/spinal injuries, including paraplegia
  • Psychological injuries, including nightmares, flashbacks and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)
  • Whiplash
  • Other soft tissue injuries

Here at Dutton Gregory, we have the skill, experience and confidence to deal with all types of motorcycle accidents. We can arrange rehabilitation/treatment for you and (if there are financial worries) interim payments too. We always act in our client’s best interests; advising them every step of the way.   We can arrange a free, no obligation consultation to discuss your claim and any concerns/questions that you will undoubtedly have. Accidents caused by Uninsured/Untraced Drivers

Although it is against the law to drive a car without insurance or drive away after causing an accident without stopping to give your details to the other party, these things do happen. Here at Dutton Gregory we can advise you, if you have been a victim in these situations, about what you can claim and when.

If you have been the victim of a road traffic accident in which the driver does not have insurance or he/she has fled the scene of the accident (also known as a hit and run) and you do not have details of the driver, or vehicle involved you may still be entitled to compensation.

The Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB) is a Government funded body, set up to deal with such cases.

There are some strict rules about when you must apply to the MIB; reporting accidents to the Police and time limits on making a claim and in order to ensure that you have the best chance possible, Dutton Gregory’s specialist Road Traffic Accident Team have the necessary knowledge and experience to guide you through every step.   MIB cases involving uninsured or hit and run drivers, require prompt action; it is therefore very important that you contact one of our specialist lawyers as soon as possible after the accident so that we can advise you on what to do next.
