Family Mediation Week 2021: Mediation and COVID-19

Today, is the start of the Family Mediation Week campaign by the Family Mediation Council to raise awareness about mediation.

Family mediation is a voluntary and confidential process designed to resolve personal disputes using a neutral third party who is an independent, professionally trained mediator who helps you work out arrangements for children and/or finances following separation.

Mediation can also be helpful when arrangements you have made before need to change, particularly as your children grow up, and you have been unable to reach an agreement about this.

Mediation is a bespoke process and you set the agenda.

The mediator will help you find a solution which works for you both and will explain what needs to happen to make an agreement between you legally binding.

The process is less stressful, significantly cheaper and quicker than attending court.

Although, we are currently in lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, mediation can still proceed virtually.

Pauline Ellis is an Accredited family mediator at Dutton Gregory and offers mediation from both our Dorset and Hampshire offices.  If you would like to find out more about mediation, and how it can assist you please call us on:
