I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all way of leading a team. What motivates one person is different to another and pretending otherwise is how you end up with a team that’s just getting on with it rather than genuinely driven.
Empowering people starts with actually paying attention to what makes them tick, not assuming it’s the same thing that motivates me. Get that right, and people don’t just do the job, they perform at their best within our sector, because the drives is coming from them, not from me telling them what should matter.
