About Rachael
For Rachael House, law wasn’t a lifelong plan, it was a fortunate accident. She chose it at college simply to fill her timetable, but one brilliant teacher changed everything.
Captivated by real courtroom stories and trips to Reading Crown Court, Rachael quickly knew she had found her path.
Why Family Law?
That early fascination evolved into a career dedicated to helping families navigate complex emotional and legal challenges. Rachael’s approach is rooted in empathy and teamwork. She believes in guiding clients through turbulent times with clarity, reassurance, and a focus on moving forward positively.
Supporting Clients
Her clients describe her as calm, compassionate, and grounded, and someone who turns difficult conversations into manageable steps. “I want my clients to feel like we’re a team,” she says. “It’s about supporting them to see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
Beyond the Law?
Rachael’s dream dinner guests? Olivia Colman, Simon Reeve, and comedian Mickey Flanagan — “because laughter is essential in life.” It’s a sentiment that sums up Rachael perfectly: professional, empathetic, and bringing lightness to even the heaviest situations, where appropriate.
Rachael is a member of two collaborative law groups Positive Divorce Solutions and Collaborative Lawyers Surrey: https://collaborativelawgroup.co.uk/ and https://www.collaborativelawyerssurrey.co.uk/. She is also a longstanding committee member of Association of Women Solicitors (Surrey): https://awssurrey.org.uk/.
Outside of work Rachael volunteers with Girlguiding UK and is on the PTA of her son’s primary school.
Why Dutton Gregory?
Rachael joined Dutton Gregory following the merger with Mackrell Turner Garrett in 2023, where she had been a Partner.
Rachael immediately recognised Dutton Gregory as the perfect fit; a larger, close-knit family team that still feels personal. She values the firm’s culture of collaboration, where everyone, no matter their role or location, is recognised and appreciated.
