About Kathryn

For over 15 years at Dutton Gregory, Kathryn has been a steady and trusted presence in the Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning team.

Her journey into law wasn’t planned; after being made redundant from a secretarial role, a recommendation led her to a law firm. Encouraged by a supportive lawyer, she trained to become a Chartered Legal Executive, along the way discovering a genuine passion for helping people with some of life’s most important decisions.

Why Wills, Trusts & Estate Planning?

Kathryn thrives on the variety and unpredictability of private client work. No two days are the same: one moment she may be guiding a family through probate, the next she’s advising on powers of attorney or drafting a will.  The blend of human connection and technical detail is what drew her to specialise in WTEP, where she finds meaning in helping clients navigate sensitive and personal matters.

Rewarding Moments

Many of Kathryn’s clients come to her during difficult or emotional times.

For her, the most rewarding part of the role is offering reassurance and reducing their worries: “if I can take away some of that stress and make them feel supported, that’s fulfilling,” she explains.

Beyond her caseload, Kathryn is passionate about giving back to the community, and she and her team are developing ways to strengthen their local impact.

Beyond the Law

Kathryn is a proud Dementia Friend, a role that resonates deeply due to her own personal experience of supporting a loved one living with dementia.

This empathy shapes the way she connects with clients facing similar journeys, ensuring they feel understood as well as advised.

Outside of work, she’s an animal lover who dreams of going on safari; she prefers holidays filled with exploration and discovery, often returning more tired than when she left, but enriched by the wildlife and cultures she’s been lucky enough to experience.

Beyond the Law

Since joining through the 2008 merger with Egglestones Solicitors, Kathryn has seen the firm evolve and grow while retaining its supportive culture; “for me, it’s the people first. We support each other, and even when colleagues move on, we stay in touch. It feels like family here.”

I am grateful for your attention and diligence in bringing dear John’s estate to its close.

From afar I can appreciate the complexities of your work, and combined with the volatilities of beneficiaries et al, can only thank you for your sympathetic and calm approach throughout!

My fondest wishes to you Kathryn for the future
