About Kate
With over three years of working at Dutton Gregory, Kate Bates is a valued member of the Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning team, where she supports clients with some of life’s most personal and important decisions.
Kate admits her career in law wasn’t planned: “I sort of fell into it when I moved home after living in Kent for seven years.” What began as an unexpected step quickly became a meaningful vocation, as she discovered the rewards of working in Private Client law.
Specialism and Approach
Kate specialises in Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning, choosing this area because of the direct impact it has on people’s lives: “I like helping people,” she explains simply. Whether drafting a Will, setting up a trust, or guiding clients through estate planning, she is committed to ensuring their wishes are respected and their loved ones protected.
Rewarding Work
For Kate, the most fulfilling part of her role is helping clients achieve peace of mind. Many arrive feeling anxious about complex decisions, but she takes pride in guiding them with clarity and reassurance.
“The most rewarding element of my role is helping our clients to ensure their wishes are covered,” she says.
Beyond the Law
Away from the office, Kate loves visiting Western Australia, where her family live. For her, it’s more than just a dream destination: “It’s always been a home away from home.”
Why Dutton Gregory?
Kate joined Dutton Gregory after working with colleague Emily, following her from a previous firm: “It’s always been about the people,” she reflects.
Here at Dutton Gregory, she has found a supportive and collaborative team environment where she can continue to grow while delivering the best possible service to clients.
