About Helen
With nearly 20 years of experience in family law, Helen Cort is widely recognised as a leading expert in her field.
Recommended by Doyle’s Law, Legal 500, and Spears 500, she has built a reputation for her strategic skill, pragmatic advice, and ability to guide clients through some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
A Career Built on Analytical Thinking
Helen’s journey into law was inspired by her natural analytical mindset: “I went into the law as it enabled me to use my analytical thinking to deliver my clients with commercial and pragmatic solutions,” she explains.
While she could have pursued many areas, it was the diversity and human focus of family law that captured her attention.
For Helen, the opportunity to help people at pivotal stages in their lives, often when they feel most vulnerable, was both meaningful and motivating.
The Rewards of the Role
Family law is one of the most personal and emotive areas of legal practice. For Helen, the most rewarding element is helping clients find clarity and confidence when they are navigating uncertainty.
“It is incredibly rewarding to help steer clients through this difficult time and empower them to move on to the next chapter in their lives,” she explains.
Whether negotiating a fair financial settlement or helping parents resolve child arrangements, Helen takes pride in offering both professional guidance and personal reassurance.
Why Family Law?
Family law appealed because of its breadth and impact; it spans everything from pre-nuptial agreements and cohabitation arrangements to complex financial settlements and child matters.
“It is such a wide and diverse area,” Helen says. “I wanted to help clients with what is often a difficult time in their lives.”
Beyond the Law
When Helen’s not working with clients, she enjoys travel and experiences that broaden her horizons.
She has already ticked off her dream holiday: a South African safari combined with vineyard tours. “The feeling I had when I saw the animals in their natural habitat is something that will stay with me forever,” she says.
Helen’s blend of legal expertise, empathy, and forward-thinking leadership ensures that clients and colleagues alike benefit from her guidance. For Helen, family law isn’t just about resolving disputes—it’s about empowering people to move into the next chapter of their lives with confidence.
Her approach is clear and focused: combining empathy with commercial awareness to help clients move forward with confidence.

Testimonials
Dutton Gregory walked me through my difficult divorce process with sensitivity and professionalism, enabling me to make the necessary steps to move forward with my life
NM - August 2025
Helen helped me massively when my ex partner broke the court agreement and refused to comply to get me off the mortgage. She was firm and efficient which is what I’ve needed to get him to comply.
It led to another court appearance where I represented myself (Helen supported me with all the information I needed to supply at court) I am now off the mortgage and he paid all my costs incurred!
Thank you Helen, couldn’t have got here without you!
