About Derek
Derek qualified as a lawyer in 2000, and not long after joined Mackrell Turner Garrett.
His drive and excellence in his field led to him being made an associate in 2009 and then a Partner in 2011. Derek joined Dutton Gregory through a merger in 2023.
What Does the Perfect Day Look Like?
For Derek, problem solving is at the heart of his work, and he puts his 25+ years of experience to use in avoiding or unlocking issues in ways that that nobody else has thought of, all of which makes him a “very happy lawyer”. As a Junior Lawyer, Derek was given conduct of novel property cases and some of these cases continue to test his skills to this day, some years later.
Beyond the Law
Derek loves to relax by cruising down a winding road on his motorcycle, with the feeling of the wind blowing against him, allowing him to concentrate all 5 of his senses through the flow of motion.
Why Dutton Gregory?
Those lightbulb moments, when colleagues and clients alike see all the facts come together to solve an intricate problem has never grown tiresome for Derek, and the caring culture and passion for law presented by his colleagues has solidified that “Dutton Gregory is the right firm” for him.
