Why A Career In Law?

Growing up with a love of writing, Chris originally planned to pursue a career in journalism.

However, on studying Politics and Law at University, Chris found that he enjoyed writing the law essays more than writing the politics essays.

After graduating, Chris took up a temporary placement as an Administration Assistant at Dutton Gregory, and this experience convinced him that he wanted to qualify as a Solicitor.

“I chose my specialty originally because Dutton Gregory had and still has some of the best Lawyers in the country in this niche. The idea that I can be a specialist is appealing to me and my passion for this area has grown along with my knowledge.”

A Successful Day

For Chris, a successful day is one in which he sees improvement within the team.

“A lot of my time is spent supervising the young lawyers in our team and I take the greatest satisfaction out of seeing them grow and get better, and knowing that I have played a part in that.”

Additionally, any day that he can go home knowing that he could not have given any more to his clients is a success in Chris’ eyes.

Why Dutton Gregory?

Chris first joined the firm on a temporary basis in 2005, becoming a permanent member of staff a few months later. After finishing his Master’s degree and working with the Probation Service for 10 months, he was offered a chance to return to Dutton Gregory in 2009 and did not hesitate.

From 2009 to 2018, Chris was a Paralegal in our Property Lettings and Revenue team, during which time he was also a Team Leader.

Chris has also worked in Commercial Litigation Law, but his passion for Landlord and Tenant Law pulled him back to our Property Lettings and Revenue team.

“I have spent so many years with the firm partly because of the opportunities that the firm has given me but mostly because of the people I work with. I cannot imagine working for a firm with people as approachable and helpful as this one.”
