    About Alice

    Alice is a Senior Associate Solicitor and Notary Public within our Dispute Resolution team, which is led by Andrew Witt.

    Alice enjoys untangling complicated situations that other people would rather avoid.
    Having qualified as a solicitor in 2018 and as a notary public in 2020, Alice is a Senior Associate specialising in commercial dispute resolution and contentious probate. She advises businesses and individuals involved in disputes where the legal position matters, but the commercial or practical outcome usually matters more.

    Alice enjoys the fact that no two disputes are ever the same. Successful dispute resolution requires more than simply knowing the law. Alice understands that a client's objectives, appetite for risk and what success actually looks like for them is just as, if not more, important.

    Her work involves:

    • Commercial and contractual disputes, including those relating to construction, professional negligence and intellectual property

    • Contentious probate and inheritance disputes, including those concerning the validity of wills, disputes regarding executors and beneficiaries, lifetime gifts and claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975

    Whether the goal is achieving an early commercial settlement, preserving an important business or family relationship, or pursuing a claim all the way to trial, Alice works closely with clients to develop a strategy that is legally sound, commercially sensible and always keeps the client’s ultimate objective in mind.

    She has the tendency to ask practical questions that force everyone else in the room to focus on the issue that actually matters.

    Known for her calm and methodical approach, Alice helps clients navigate disputes during what is usually a stressful and uncertain time. She enjoys bringing order to situations that have become unnecessarily complicated, which is fortunate because lawyers usually have a habit of making things more complicated than they need to be.

    As a Notary Public, Alice prepares, authenticates and certifies documents for use overseas. It is a useful reminder that, despite the best efforts of modern technology, there are still parts of legal practice where a stamp, signature and getting the wording exactly right remain remarkably important.
