About Alex
Alex is a Partner and Solicitor within our Wills, Trusts & Estate Planning team, which is led by Emily Taylor.
Having qualified as a Solicitor in 2016, Alex has a wealth of experience in a number of disciplines within his field.
Alex is also an Alzheimer's Society Dementia Champion.
Alex’s specialisms include:
- Probate matters, including complex and cross jurisdictional estates
- Court of Protection Applications
- Powers of Attorney
- Wills, including those with complex discretionary Trusts
- Advising, setting up and running Trusts for estate IHT and generational planning
Why A Career In Law?
Alex studied Jurisprudence (the philosophy of law) purely as the evolution of, and need for, laws in society interested him, but didn’t think he would eventually pursue a career in the field.
“Seeing its implementation and how it evolves and impacts everyone really fascinates me. I am very grateful I can use my knowledge and experience to truly impact people's lives for the better, often when they are going through their worst period having lost a loved one.”
Supporting Clients
Alex considers himself to be a service provider, here to support his client’s needs.
“When a client comes to me, they often have a problem and an objective, and my job is to get them to their objective or resolve their issue.”
Alex understands that clients often don't want or need to know the complexities of the law, but they do want to know that they are in safe hands, and their goal is achieved in a way that protects them and their interests.
Rewarding Elements
For Alex, the most rewarding part of his role is helping clients through one of the most difficult periods of their lives after they've lost a loved one.
“At a time when they're often overwhelmed with grief and uncertainty, being able to guide them through the legal process, take away some of the burden, and give them reassurance is incredibly fulfilling.
It's a privilege to help families find clarity and peace of mind, knowing that I've made a genuine difference when they needed support the most.”
A Historical Trial That Alex Would Have Liked To Have Attended
Alex feels that the Nuremberg Trials would have been incredible to witness.
“They marked a defining moment in legal history, demonstrating that even the most powerful individuals could be held accountable for crimes against humanity. The creation of principles that still influence international law today makes them one of the most significant legal proceedings ever held.”
Alex would have also liked to have witnessed any case that Lord Denning sat as Judge: “having studied my LPC at the then College of Law Guildford in the aptly named Denning building and having read some of his extremely amusing judgments ("In summertime village cricket is the delight of everyone") I definitely have a soft spot for his cases.”
