Who will work on my matter?

Your matter will be handled by a lawyer in our Employment team with appropriate experience for the complexity of your case, under Partner supervision, where appropriate.

What is included in my cost?

The fee ranges above cover the work involved in the following key stages:

  • Establishing the full background to, and circumstances of, the proposed application
  • Initial review of documents
  • identifying and providing advice on options, and the evidence required to support an application
  • preparing a personal statement, letter or supporting statement, as required
  • gathering and compiling supporting evidence
  • advising on processing time and premium services, as appropriate
  • corresponding with you throughout
  • assisting in finalising and submitting the application

Please note that all matters are individual. We will provide further information about what is required in your Client Care Letter when you instruct us.

What additional costs should I expect?

In some cases, additional costs may be incurred, including disbursements.

Disbursements are third party costs relating to your matter, which will depend on the circumstances of the case.

You will be responsible for these costs but we may handle the payment of disbursements on your behalf to make the process smoother.

Disbursements relating to an immigration application for an individual may include:

  • Immigration Health Surcharge
  • Home Office application fees
  • Priority fees

Home Office fees are reviewed annually and usually change in April each year. These are not subject to VAT.  Please check the Home Office website for most recent fees: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/visa-regulations-revised-table

Depending on your application, there may be additional costs, such as fees for an English language test, a Tuberculosis test or the Life in the UK test. You may also need to pay for documents to be translated into English, as well as fees for attending a visa application centre, retaining your passport or using a courier service.

We will discuss the specific requirements and associated costs for your application with you.

In rare circumstances, we may need to instruct a barrister on your behalf. As barristers’ fees vary, it is not possible to provide generic information about their costs.

If we advise you to instruct a barrister, we will help you choose representation with the appropriate level of experience, and will discuss the cost implications with you before proceeding.

What factors could make a case more complex?

The following are some examples of what could make a case more complex:

  • Uncertainty over the correct occupation code
  • Salary threshold issues
  • Previous immigration problems
  • Difficulties in obtaining English Language evidence
  • Dependants accompanying you
  • Remote working or other unusual working arrangements
  • Difficulties in evidencing travel history
  • Applications from higher-risk jurisdictions
  • Urgent applications

Please be reassured that we will support you, wherever possible, to overcome any complexities that may arise.

How long will my matter take?

Depending on the circumstances (and these can be subject to change), a typical matter takes approximately 12 weeks.

Once we take your instructions, we will work with you to ensure your application is submitted in a timely manner. There are many factors that may affect the time it takes to receive a response to your application.

The Home Office publish current processing times from application submission.  This can be found on their website:  Visa processing times: applications inside the UK – GOV.UK.
