This week is Mediation Week! Family solicitor Pauline Ellis shares her experiences of mediation, and how it can help.
Today's blog asks: What is Mediation?
Mediation is a non-confrontational and cost effective way to resolve disputes, away from the Courts.
It is a voluntary and confidential process and assists clients in making their own decisions about arrangements for their families following separation, divorce or the end of a civil partnership.
It is an alternative to the court process but can also be used alongside court proceedings, in the hope that matters can be resolved to avoid some or all litigation.
It is usually far faster and cheaper than opting for Court, where the first hearing alone can take up to 13 weeks.
